Whitehall Diary. Volume III: Ireland, 1918-1925 – Thomas Jones; Edited By Keith Middlemas.
Out of stock
Thomas Jones was a Welsh civil servant, whose three volumes of diaries provide an important source of information on British politics in the interwar period. He was also the first biographer of David Lloyd George. Volume 3 is this Irish volume and covers the years 1918-25. The greater part of this narrative is concentrated on the making of the Irish Treaty in 1921 and the negotiations which took place in London between the leaders of both sides – Lloyd George and Churchill, Arthur Griffith and Michael Collins among them – but there are also many fresh insights into the making of British policy towards Ireland in the troubled years after the end of the First World War. This rare and second hand book is out of print and is in very good condition.
