Description
In the years after World War 2, county associations became a vibrant part of social life in Dublin. This was a world of ballrooms, card drives, talent competitions, film shows, bus trips, seaside outings, tournament matches and treasure hunts. For fifty years the Offaly Association in Dublin has drawn together people from every part of Offaly. They have come together to work for Offaly people and to socialise with each other. The Offaly Association, however, went far beyond social outings and came to provide a vital source of welfare, support and care in a growing city. The contribution the association has made to the lives of several generations is a triumph of dedication and of local pride.
