Launch of Offaly history CDs
Please note that we are launching our Offaly history CDs for the schools with refreshments on Thursday the 1st of December at 8.00 pm at the Research Centre at Bury Quay, Tullamore Please come along and enjoy the evening. The CDs are as follows:
1. Monastic Offaly prepared by Darrell Hooper
2. Tullamore Town Michael Byrne
3. The Grand Canal and County Offaly OHAS
These CDs will be made available at €20 each to all the schools and also to the public (or €45 for the three). They should be extremely useful in a class situation and they come in several cases with extensive articles on the CD available to be used and printed off etc. The product should also be useful to those interested in Offaly history, tour operators and hotels and guest houses.
Our thanks to Leader + for their assistance with this publication. Mr Michael Fox, Chairman of Leader has kindly agreed to launch the publications. Mr James Scully NT Banagher will speak on behalf of the schools.
Please let any teachers know that you think might be interested. We have invited teachers from first and second level in the county.
Christmas Lunch
The Christmas Lunch this year is on the 4th of December as already advised to you at Bridge House, Tullamore and tickets are €25. Would you please book seat by ringing OHAS 21421. The guest speaker for after dinner is Philip Lumley who will be talking about his memories of Tullamore in an illustrated presentation. Lumleys have been in business in Tullamore since the 1840s and are now probably the longest established business family in Tullamore.
Christmas Draw
We once again ask you for your support in our annual Christmas draw which raises funds to help us to maintain our centre and develop and grow it and in particular the library. You are asked to return the card sent with the November newsletter with as many tickets as you can sold. There are great prizes to be won. Tickets have to be returned by 12 noon on Thursday 22nd Dec.
