He is the Grandson of George L. Casey, born in Philipstown (Daingean), King's County (Offaly) on April 1, 1847 and left in 1848 for America.
George L. Casey was the son of Lawrence Casey (born 1820) and Ann Morrin born in 1826 both in Philipstown (Daingean) and married there in 1845.
William J. Casey was born in Queens NY on March 13, 1913 and rose to become a very famous American.
He was the head of the Office of Strategic Services (OSS) in London in 1943-45 and was responsible for deploying spies behind enemy line in Europe and Nazi Germany, and had line responsibility for D-Day intelligence preparations.
He was a counsel to the Marshall Plan that helped Europe after the War.
After the war and until 1981, he authored over 150 books on the law that are still used today.
He was a close political advisor to every Republican candidate for President since Wendell Willkie in 1940.
In 1966- he was a candidate for the U. S. Congress
In 1969, President Nixon named him the Chairman of the United States Securities and Exchange Commission which oversees the all stockbrokers, financial managers and stock exchanges in America including all of Wall Street.
In 1972- President Nixon named him as Under Secretary of State for Economic Affairs working as #2 to Henry Kissinger.
In 1974- President Ford named him President and Chairman of the United States Export-Import Bank.
In 1980- He was the national campaign manager for Ronald Reagan and was chiefly responsible for his successful election.
In 1981- President Reagan named him to his cabinet as Director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) a post he held until his death in 1987.
